Manchester United Boss Amorim Admits He Cannot Escape Underwhelming Record

Man Utd head coach Ruben Amorim confesses he cannot conceal from his disappointing performance and states it is expected that Old Trafford legends are commenting on him.
Recently, United's record scorer Wayne Rooney told his podcast that "the spirit has gone" from his old team.
Amorim has achieved just 18 victories from his 49 matches in control, featuring 9 out of thirty-three in the English top flight, where he has yet to secure back-to-back consecutive victories.
Although high-level Old Trafford insiders are adamant that Sir Jim Ratcliffe continues to be backing the manager, failure to beat recently promoted their next opponents on the weekend will spark fresh discussion about his role heading into another two-week pause in domestic football.
"It is understandable," said the Portugal-born coach, when questioned about the former striker's comments. "One can't hide from the outcomes."
"Then you have the history from last season, [although] that period for me is irrelevant."
Supporter Response and Present Situation
Manchester United's followers remained supportive of their manager following the previous campaign's dismal showing, when they finished fifteenth in the table - their lowest performance since the 1973/74 relegation season - and were beaten in the European showpiece, in the belief that this season would be significantly better.
The manager assured fans the situation would change because he had more opportunity to prepare with his team without the weekly distraction of European competition.
However is not how the first six matches have developed as United have endured three defeats so far and are currently 14th in the table.
Manager's Reaction to Questions
When asked what assurances he could give followers that the circumstances will change, Amorim added: "It's not the moment to speak, it is the moment to prove."
"I review the matches in the current campaign and, for me, they are entirely different, but I have nothing to add at this moment."
